The best exercise for your mental and physical health is to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. As a society we spend too much time indoors and looking at screens. The conveniences of the modern world have become the demise of society as a whole. A sedentary lifestyle contributes to obesity and illness. Just a few extra steps a day can be the beginning of changing bad habits. If you are able, always walk down the stairs, it is easier than going up and increases your steps. Take the long way, park farther from the front door. Go sit on your balcony or porch, if you are lucky enough to have one, drink a cup of tea or water. The fresh air and sunshine are the most underutilized mood booster available to all of us. Go to your nearest state park, they have beautiful trails and many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors and watch the wildlife. Better yet, lay down on the grass and look up at the sky and contemplate the meaning of life. "Stop and smell the roses", the best old folks line ever to be told. The hustle and bustle of modern day life we forget to add this to our daily schedules. Bad habits can be reversed, we just have to add our intention and follow thru with our choice to be happier and healthier.
